CyberFirst Girls Development Virtual Course

We were delighted that two of our Year 9 students applied to participate in this two day course during their half-term holiday. Inspired by the growth of online participation this year, both students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to explore cyber security further. During the course they learned about the growing demand for IT experts within cyber security. To gain a feel for the job they used a hacking software called Kali, proving an experience of what it would be like to become an ethical hacker. The course gave them an insight into cryptography, mainly looking at stenography and digital forensics. Practical exercises included them learning how to hide text in images and audio clips and also how to encrypt the message from images and audio clips. The course ended with an opportunity to question experts within the field of cyber security. Certainly a worthwhile opportunity for both students involved.
