GDST VEX Robotics and Coding Competition

On International Women In Engineering Day, Friday 23rd June, two teams from Howell's took part in the GDST VEX Robotics and Coding Competition at South Hampstead High School, part of a Girl Powered event to encourage more women into engineering alongside teams from 10 other GDST schools. The teams had to build and learn to control a VEX robot prior to the event. For the competition they had to control the robot on a games board and complete various tasks as a school team, then they paired with other schools. At the end of the team round, Howell's A and B were 1st and 2nd, even though there were far more experienced teams at the competition. The girls from South Hampstead won the overall prize, but the Howell's students were awarded the judges award for enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment, and we couldn't be more proud of them. Onwards to the Nationals next year!
