On Wednesday 14th February, Mrs Davis was delighted to welcome forty Hywelians who had generously supported the restoration of the Great Hall to a thank you lunch. The Howell's Umbrella Giving appeal for the work the Great Hall received many personal donations from Hywelians, and the Hywelian Guild generously gave £10,000 towards the restoration of the Merchant of Venice mural. The warmth and generosity of the whole Howell's family is something that is unique to our school, and it was a wonderful opportunity to thank them personally for their support, as well as show them the results of the extensive restoration project. During the event, the paintings will be brought to life by current Howell’s students performing brief extracts from the Shakespearean plays that are depicted in the oil paintings. Head of English, Mrs Richards, who also was a student at Howell’s, charmed guests with her fond memories of the Great Hall and further entertainment was provided by sisters Angona and Aarona (Year 10 and Year 7) who gave a spirited performance of an Bollywood-style Indian dance routine. It was a very special occasion and we are enormously grateful to the Hywelian Guild and its members for their generosity.
