On Tuesday 26th November, the Bridgend Branch of the Hywelian Guild held their traditional Advent service in the Holy Cross Parish Church in Cowbridge. A group of girls from Year 7, accompanied by Mrs Reed and Mrs Pritchard, travelled from school to the lovely service led by curate Ian Yemm. After the service our current Year 7 students and alumnae were sharing stories of their school days at Howell's, as well as making time to see the amazing Christmas trees in the church. The trees are decorated by schools, local organisations and businesses for the festival, which the church holds every year. Following the service the Hywelians, along with Mrs Eling, Mrs Scott and Miss Roberts, walked over to the Bear Hotel, where they enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch. It was a lovely occasion and a fitting way to start the festive season.
