Junior Netball at Haberdashers' Monmouth

Forty-nine girls from Year 5 travelled to Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls on Friday 19th January to play five matches of netball. It was a great experience for all of the girls, many of whom were playing in their very first netball fixture for Howell’s School. Team 1 played very well, winning 7-2 after getting off to a great start. Amelia D picked up girl-of-the-game honours in what proved to be a very good team performance. Team 2 and girl-of-the-game Tilly M won their match 4-0 and demonstrated how far they have progressed through attending Mrs Price’s after-school netball club on Wednesdays. Team 3 were led by girl-of-the-game Chloe P but lost out 0-9 to a very strong team from HMSG. Team 4 came from behind to win 2-1, thanks in part to two goals by Laila-May C (joint girl-of-the-game) and a good performance by Simra A. Teams 5 and 6 played out a thrilling match against each other, with Team 5 winning 3-0. Isobel P and Lili J played very well in the attacking third for Team 5 and managed to overcome a good performance by Delfina G and Team 6 to win the match. Well done to all girls who made the trip to Monmouth and experienced the competition. We look forward to many more fixtures in the coming months!
