Junior School Instrumental Evening 2018

Thursday 26th April saw the much anticipated Junior School Instrumental Evening. Performing to a capacity audience in the Junior Hall, almost 70 girls took part in what is one the instrumental pinnacles of the Junior School year! The girls played a wide range of instruments, either as soloists, or as part of an ensemble and delighted their audience. All of the instrumental ensembles took part, including the Junior Wind Band, String Machine, Shake, Rattle & Roll, four Rock Groups, the Junior Flute Choir and the Junior School Orchestra. There were superb performances too from our Year 3 violinists and Year 4 trombonists and cornet players after their term of class lessons. The high standard of musicianship and the enjoyment of the girls was evident throughout the event. The evening opened with distant sounds of a marching band approaching along the corridor as the Junior Wind Band paraded smartly into the hall, complete with marching bass and side drums, playing When the Saints! The concert closed with a theatrical performance of The Great Escape from the Junior Orchestra, which saw players dramatically tunneling their way out of the orchestra leaving only the tuba player to complete the piece! Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended, to the girls who performed so superbly and to the staff who helped make the evening such a success.
