It was a great day at the Sport Cardiff Mini Orange Tennis Tournament for Year 5 girls on Wednesday 6th June. Howell's Red and Howell's Blue both played exceptionally good tennis throughout the day, with Howell's Blue (Mali J, Lili J, Tallula C, Carys M) defeating Lakeside (4-2) and Llanishen Fach (6-0) to reach the final. Howell's Red (Mati H-D, Lauren H, Rhea M, Georgie H) defeated Thornhill (6-0) and Treganna (6-0) to set up a final showdown with Howell's Blue. The final was thrilling, with Howell's Red winning 3 of the 4 singles rubbers in tightly contested games. The Red team also went on to win the two doubles matches to win 5-1 overall and claim the gold medals. A very successful day for Year 5, who went home with four gold medals, four silver medals and a trophy to add to the cabinet. As Cardiff champions, the Year 5 team will join the Year 3/4 and Year 6 teams at the South Wales finals later in the month.
