We are delighted that Mehek D, Cari D, Elinor H, Ruby S and Annie S in Year 10 are once again attending the Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses. These take place at the Treforest Campus, University of South Wales and are held on a Saturday morning for seven weeks during the Spring Term. The Masterclasses aim to challenge students in Year 9 and 10 who are well-motivated and curious about mathematics. In their first session the students worked in teams to solve numerous mathematical puzzles. Future sessions include Operational Research, The Mathematics of the Rock Guitar, Multiplying Rabbits, Dots Games and Surfaces, and Chaotic Mathematics, ending with an Award Ceremony in the final week.
The KS3 Masterclasses commence this Saturday 25th January and sessions include Mathematical Puzzles, How Pythagoras Saves the Whales, The Unexpected Mathematics of Juggling, Origami and The Mathematics of Bacteria.
