Last Friday 7th February, 12 students from Year 8 participated in a Language Discovery Day at Cardiff University. This was an exciting opportunity to not only experience a day on campus in the School of Modern Languages and chat to undergraduates about their university courses, but also to improve their own language skills and cultural knowledge. The interactive workshops included ordering pizza and visiting the zoo in Italian, identifying typical dishes and their ingredients from Spanish speaking countries across the globe and learning about French pop culture. The students also drew on their existing knowledge of French and Spanish to identify new vocabulary in Italian. The day ended with a prize giving ceremony, rewarding students for their curiosity and enthusiasm.
