During the past three weeks, Year 2 have been able to witness the amazing process of metamorphosis. Our caterpillar larvae arrived measuring only 5mm and within a week they had been very hungry caterpillars and grown to five times their original size, another week later and all the caterpillars had shed their exoskeletons and changed into chrysalides. On Tuesday 8th May, after a lovely warm bank holiday weekend, we arrived back in school to find our butterfly habitats full of beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The girls were amazed by the transformation and although they were a little sad to see the butterflies go, they enjoyed waving goodbye as our butterflies spread their wings and flew off into their new habitat.
