On Monday 17th June, Poetry Club and guests enjoyed our 4th annual Poetry Picnic. Despite the threat of inclement weather and some rather nosy seagulls, we spent a wonderful lunchtime eating in the Headmistress’s Garden and listening to a superb range of poetry. Topics such as whispering wisteria, waterfalls, positivity, and change were shared in poetic form, and enjoyed by all. All the staff in attendance commented on what exceptionally talented poets we have at Howell’s. Connie also brought in Poetry Club mascot ‘William Blake,’ a little blue dragon who lives in a matchbox, and no doubt spared us from seagull attacks and rain showers.
We can’t wait until next year!
In the meantime, why not enter a poem to ‘The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2019’?
