Everyone attending yesterday’s Prep School Instrumental Evening was in for a treat! Performing to a capacity audience in the Prep School Hall, nearly 40 girls took part in what is one of the instrumental pinnacles of the Prep School year!
The girls played a wide range of instruments, either as soloists, or as part of an ensemble and delighted their audience. All of the instrumental ensembles took part, including the Prep Wind Band, String Machine, Shake, Rattle & Roll, a rock band, the Prep Flute Choir, the Prep Harp Ensemble, the Prep Guitar Ensemble and the Prep School Orchestra. Eight soloists thoroughly entertained their audience with outstandingly polished performances. The high standard of musicianship and the enjoyment of the girls was evident throughout the event. The evening opened with a stirring Coronation Fanfare from the Prep Wind Band and a feast of music followed. The five Prep School harpists performed an arrangement of Yma o Hyd and Shake, Rattle and Roll amazed the audience with their carefully choreographed performance! The concert closed with an enthusiastic rendition of the famous Abba number, Thank You from the Music from the Prep School Orchestra.
