On Tuesday 7th November, the Year 5 and Year 6 Cross-Country teams travelled to Trelai Park in Ely to take part in the Regional X-Country Final that they had qualified for following such good performances at the city-wide final before the half-term break. Despite the unpleasant weather, the girls were in good spirits and Year 5 were first to take to the long and demanding course. After a frantic first 500m, Carys M, Isabella P, Tallula C and Georgie H established themselves towards the front of the 80-girls in the race and ran together well. Despite many girls from other competing schools powering forward, the team of four continued strongly until the end, finishing in 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th, amounting to 28 total team points. This was comfortably good enough for 1st overall, making Howell’s the Year 5 Regional Cross-Country Champions for 2017.
