On Thursday 5th November, Year 6 made some beautiful fireworks cards, and learned about the history of Guy Fawkes Night. Guy Fawkes was a member of the Gunpower Plot, and was arrested on 5th November 1605, while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords in an attempt to kill King James I. To celebrate the King's survival, people lit bonfires around London; and months later, the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure.
