"When I was in Year 8, I bought a book called Frost Hollow Hall, written by Emma Carroll, and as soon as I read it I fell in love with it. It soon became my favourite book - and it still is! It’s a wonderful ghostly mystery novel, but do be warned, it’s very spooky!
The main character and narrator, Tilly Higgins, is a young girl who meets the ghost of a boy, Kit Barrington when she falls through the ice whilst skating for a dare on the grounds of a beautiful, old manor house. Kit is a troubled young soul, who was the heir to Frost Hollow Hall - and he desperately needs to be freed, and it is up to Tilly to help him. This novel is extremely gripping, mainly due to the detail given when the setting is described, making you feel like you’re actually there, but also because of the language used, which is young and childish but extremely eerie and mysterious.
This story has many hidden messages throughout, and will take you on an emotional roller coaster, but I would definitely recommend this read if you enjoy spine-chilling mystery novels!"
