GIRLS FOOTBALL
Two Year 7 girls have helped Cardiff City Ladies Under 12s to win their league. Elizabeth W and Grace W are regular players for the team, which trains at Whitchurch High School and plays its home games at Blackweir Field. The team is unbeaten in the league this year, winning the Under 12s Division 2 title with several fixtures remaining. They were narrowly knocked out of the Cup competition in the semi-finals, losing on penalties to higher-ranked Tredegar. Cardiff City will now be promoted to Division 1, the top tier of the eight divisions in the Under 12 age group. The South Wales Women & Girls' League (SWWGL) is the largest female football league in Wales, with a mission to develop the game for girls and women across South Wales. It now has around 150 teams and more than 2,300 players
