After last year's Llandaff Cathedral spectacular, the Spring Concert returned to its rightful home of the Great Hall on Thursday 22nd March. An audience of parents, students, staff and governors enjoyed a mixed programme of musical items from Senior Jazz, Senior Choir, College Choir and Senior Orchestra, as well as performances from the GCSE ensembles and solo performances from College students. After 27 years as our Director of Music, this was Mrs Phillips' last Spring Concert before she leaves us in the summer and she put together a glorious programme of some of her favourite pieces, all impeccably performed by the students.
It was also the final concert at Howell's for the Year 13 students, and the evening closed with a song performed by them, written in tribute to Mrs Phillips, and in celebration of their time at school. With words by Elin S and music by Katie J, by the closing note of Don't Give Me The Rose there was barely a dry eye left in the house.
Year 13 are about to embark on their A-level exams, and we wish them every success for the future and thank them warmly for their unstinting support and for sharing their musical talents with us.
