Success for Howell's at the Welsh Girls Chess Championships

Last weekend a good number of Howell's students took part in the Welsh Girls Championships held in Caerphilly, with considerable success.

In the under-8-section: Amelie C, playing one of her first tournaments, was joint Champion

In the u9-section: Isabella C was outright Champion while another tournament newcomer, Tatjana G, finished 2nd

In the u10-section:  Lara O finished 3rd

In the u14's Susanna Fraser continued her remarkable career in the game, having previously won the u10s (twice), u12s (twice) she has now added a second u14 title - meaning that she has been Welsh Girls Champion for her age group for six years running !

This coming weekend sees the Cardiff and Vale Championships at County Hall in Cardiff Bay. This is an excellent and very beginner-friendly competition and Mr Kett is encouraging lots of our new Junior Chess Club girls to attend.
