On Monday 11th June, the Year 12 Young Enterprise team, K9 Kerchief, competed in the All Wales Final at Cardiff University. The girls have spent this year setting up and running a successful business and were given the opportunity to showcase their creativity and hard work alongside other schools from all over Wales. The girls described their company as:
“K9-Kerchief is a new and innovative approach to personalised dog accessories and canine fashion. We hand make bandanas and bow ties out of re-used materials. Pet owners are increasingly buying weird and wonderful fashion items for their animals and we wanted to be a part of this exciting, growing market.”
The team created a trade stand, completed a company report, and were interviewed by a panel of judges. To complete this rigorous process, they finished by presenting their ideas to an audience of successful entrepreneurs, experienced business managers, distinguished guests, students, teachers and business advisors.
Although the team did not win the overall ‘Best Company’ award, they did beat tough competition to win the ‘Best Presentation Award’, and the ‘Excellence in Financial Management Award’ as the company who had made the most profit. Congratulations to the whole team who were all fantastic, but especially Lydia M who was presented with the ‘Journey Award’, which not only recognises her hard work and dedication, but how she evolved personally to become the key driving force behind their success.
