Sugar Rush

Students in 7L were Welsh Dragons last week in their own version of Dragon’s Den.  Tasked with inventing a new sweet inspired by Mrs Pratchett’s sweet shop in Roald Dahl’s ‘Boy’, they created a range of mouth-watering confectionery.  From taste-tests, to dances – charity to eco- friendly packaging, the girls went all out to convince their audience of the merits of their products.  We were all quite astounded by the level of professionalism with which all the presentations were delivered.

Milly kindly explained the lessons’ focus:

In English, we are currently reading ‘Boy’ by Roald Dahl and we are on the chapter about his favourite sweetie shop. Our class was allocated homework which was to create our own sweets. Then, in our tables, we had to decide on one sweet between all of us. We then had to present our sweet to the class, who were representing the Dragons. We had to make sure the criteria were checked. Our sweets had to be original and creative, telling the dragons what they were, how much they cost and about our business. Whilst we were presenting them, each Dragon had a check list to check off for every group. At the end, we did a blind vote on who we thought should win.

It was a close ballot, but congratulations went to Frankie, Honor and Issy’s group for their fundraising eyeball sweet.
