The Oxford Schools' Debating Competition was held on Friday, 19th January. Mansi V (Year 13) joined Ffion M, Natasha S, Anoushka N, Dagmawi Y and Restam E-A (Year 12) in the Cardiff round of this national competition. They debated the legalisation of drugs, and streaming in schools.
The following day, Dag and Restam were joined by Doriana D and Hanya E (Year 12), and Danielle K and Siani K (Year 10) in the Bristol Schools' Debating Competition. This time there were four rounds of debating, with motions on animal welfare, mirroring of misogynistic practices, the welfare system and the use of drones in Syria. It was a long and demanding day but all the students contributed well-reasoned, fluently expressed arguments, achieving some very good results, including three first and three second placings.
We now look forward to the Cambridge Schools' Debating Competition on Saturday 27th January.
