The Urdd National Swimming Finals took place at Cardiff International Pool on Saturday 26th January, and Team Howell's certainly showed an abundance of talent. Our Year 4 girls, Yume A, Isabella C, Nell CP and Elizabeth S, were truly amazing, winning silver medals for the Freestyle Relay and gold for the Medley Relay, ensuring a well deserved 1st and 2nd place on the podium. Our Years 5/6 swimmers were also in fine form, Amelia D's qualifying time enabled her to represent Cardiff and Vale in the 50m Freestyle and Sophie D's convincing gold in the 50m Breaststroke gave her the qualifying time required for the Welsh National Championships, Sophie also won bronze in the 100m Individual Medley. With incredible determination and remarkable sprinting, our relay teams, comprising of Phoebe C, Amelia D, Sophie D, Celeste R and Isabella P, claimed silver medals for both the Freestyle and Medley Relays.
Achieving qualification for this national event was a tough task given the amount of swimming talent across Wales but it was very much a team effort with all our swimmers putting in outstanding performances when the pressure was on. WELL DONE GIRLS!!!
