On Friday 13th October, Year 13 students Ishrat and Hema represented Howell's at the Wales Schools Debating Championships, arguing in favour of a new system of national service in the U.K. We were delighted that Ishrat was selected for a Best Speaker Award.
On Saturday 14th October, eleven Howell's students competed in the Cardiff Schools Debating Competition. Year 10 students Dani K, Ayesha Ali, Angona S and Siani K and Year 12 students Natasha S, Anoushka N, Rachel S, Doriana D, Ffion M, Restam E-A and Dag Y took part in three rounds of impromptu debates, most of the Year 12s competing for the first time.
All teams achieved at least a second placing, and there were five Howell's first placings across the day. Well done also to Dag, who was the best speaker in his room. All speakers did really well handling some difficult topics.
