Year 4 Sing with the African Children’s Choir

On Thursday 17th January, Year 4 had the opportunity to sing at St David’s Hall with a massed primary schools choir made up of some 550 voices as part of the African Children’s Choir 2019 tour of the UK. The girls spent had a busy afternoon in rehearsals and sound checks with both the African choir and the local schools’ choir before the concert began. St David’s Hall was packed with parents and supporters at this charity fund-raising event. Dressed in a variety of colourful costumes, the African Children’s Choir thoroughly entertained the audience and local schools with a mesmerising display of singing, energetic dancing and rhythmic African drumming. Howell’s Prep School girls sang four items with the African Choir and another four songs as part of the local schools’ massed choir and they performed superbly. Both teachers and parents were very proud of the girls’ performance, behaviour, initiative and flexibility at what was an uplifting and somewhat humbling occasion.
