A friend of Esme B., in Year 7, eight year old Hollie, has recently been diagnosed with a rare bone marrow failure syndrome. Hollie is currently having regular blood transfusions and platelets and she is in need of a bone marrow transplant and are trying to find a match. Hollie’s family is appealing for people who are in good health and are aged 16 to 30 to register with the Anthony Nolan Trust and initially just have a simple saliva test sent in the post.
To help raise awareness and find a match there is a hashtag on Twitter #pantsonyourhead, and friends and family of Hollie have been taking photos of themselves with pants on their head. This was after her uncle was on Face Time to her whilst she was in hospital and put some pants on his head to cheers her up.
The campaign has been supported by high profile celebrities such as Sam Warburton, Jamie Baulch, Lee Trundle, Jonathan Davies and George North.
Today Year 7 students have demonstrated their support for the appeal and their support can be seen in the photograph below.
