Following on from the very successful GDST 140th Anniversary Languages Spelling Bee that was held at Howell’s last year, Putney High hosted a similar event this summer. For some of our students it was their first competition; others were veterans of the National Year 7 Spelling Bee and the Howell’s competition last year. The girls competed in teams and had to spell as many of their 100 words as possible in the target language in two minutes. The words had only been available for three weeks which meant some intense last-minute practising! Our students performed phenomenally well, winning five out of the nine competitions, and being placed in another three. Very well done, girls!
