Isabelle de Montet-Guérin (at school 1992-99) is enjoying a distinguished career as an aircraft pilot. in 2002, she became one of Britain’s youngest commercial pilots as a first officer with British Airways. In her free time, she was also a top-level instructor at 634 VGS (Volunteer Gliding School) at RAF Athan. She flew the Boeing 737, 757, 767 and Jetstream aircraft before joining the London College as a Type Rating Instructor and Assessor. At 28, she completed a course and qualified as the first female test pilot in the UK.
Isabelle is now enjoying her position with FR Aviation, an MOD company which trains navies of the world by the means of electronic warfare simulations. This involves much low level flying! She is now a captain and is also involved as a technical manager. Airbus has been headhunting her to join their team of test pilots for the new 350. In July she heard that the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators has awarded her the Grand Master's Medal, which will be presented to her at a Banquet in Guildhall, London on 27 October 2011. This award is made annually to a pilot under the age of thirty for outstanding achievement and endeavour. We warmly congratulate her on her remarkable success.
