After the recent Rotary Hand-Over Meal that took place in TGI Fridays last month, the new Rotary team (back row of picture), were inspired by the previous team and determined to start off their year of fundraising successfully. They decided that their first project would be to organise an end-of-exams party for students of GCSE and AS level from various schools across Cardiff: a way that everyone could get together and celebrate the end of a hard exam season. After weeks of selling tickets, the event took place last Thursday. The night was a huge success and the team raised far more money than they could ever have anticipated for their first event – a total of £1526.50.
The team are currently having weekly meetings on a Wednesday and are in the process of deciding which charities they will be working with this year. New members are always welcome, and extra help is definitely needed! The team enjoyed their first event and are delighted to have raised so much money for the Rotary Club. Very well done!
