Many congratulations to Hywelian Kate Strong, who left school in 1997. Kate was crowned ITU AG World Champion in long-distance triathlon in 2014. Kate emigrated to Australia in 2008 to start a business in hospitality. In her fourth triathlon, in November 2013, she was crowned Australian national champion, and found herself in the Australian squad for the World Championships in 2014. She finished first and was crowned the ITU AG World Champion.
This year Kate sold her Australian guest house and returned to Wales, where she has built a new business as a coach and mentor to individuals and small businesses. She still competes for Australia and qualified for five World Championships this year.
