On 12th March, a Hywelian, Mrs Ann Cotton, and her daughter Helen, spent the day in school. Mrs Cotton was formerly Ann Evans and this was her first visit to school since she left in 1967! She is the founder and president of a remarkable charity, Camfed, which promotes the education of girls in Africa. Mrs Cotton has won numerous awards in recognition of her achievement, including the OBE. Now she is planning to write a book about Camfed, and this will include aspects of her life, such as her schooldays, which have influenced her fund-raising work. Mrs Cotton and Helen, who makes documentary films, toured the Senior School, had lunch and spent some time in the archives. They were very impressed by the school as it is today and commented on the happy and vibrant atmosphere. We hope to welcome Mrs Cotton back again soon.
