On Saturday May 18th 2013, 10 members of The Hywelian Guild's West Wales Branch celebrated the 40th Anniversary of its inauguration by holding their Spring Reunion in the Board Room (now the School's museum). After being warmly welcomed by Sally Davis (Principal), we sat down to a delicious lunch of salmon, home-cooked ham and various salads, followed by mixed fruit crumble served with custard or cream! Sally was delighted to receive a very special new exhibit for the Museum: Ena Davies' gold-plated identity bracelet, worn when she attended School during WW2. Several Branch members had not been back to HSL for many years, so thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the buildings, including Hazelwood, now Howell's Junior Department. Ann Rees pointed out the exact place where her bed had been situated whilst she was a boarder! We returned to the Board Room for coffee and mints, then held our formal (but brief) Business meeting, at which it was unanimously agreed we would donate the Branch's completed Minutes and Attendance books to the Museum for safe-keeping.
On behalf of West Wales Branch may I say a heartfelt 'Thank you' to everyone involved in making our 40th Anniversary meeting so very special!
