National Year 7 Languages Spelling Bee Competition 2013-4

Our congratulations go to the Year 7 spelling bee teams who acquitted themselves so well at the South Wales Regional Final in Llanelli on 2nd April. The girls had to learn to spell 150 words in the target language – a challenging task considering they have only been learning the languages for two terms. The competition was charged with excitement as every competitor was spelling against the clock in front of a live audience, and where scores were the same, a round of sudden death followed.

Our thanks go to Mrs Oikonomou for accompanying the girls and also to the Year 13 Language Prefects who have been helping to prepare the Year 7s for the competition.

All the girls put in 100+% effort and performed exceptionally well. Good luck to the 11 competitors who are through to the next round – they will be competing in the Welsh National Final on the 19th June in Aberystwyth. Only 200 words to learn!
