Students at Howell’s Co-Ed College are Seeing Stars

It was an emotionally charged morning at Howell's Co-Ed College as students arrived to collect their A-level results. But they needn’t have worried, Howell’s Co-Ed College students were awarded more A*s than ever this year.  52% of all results were A* - A grades, and 80% of all grades were A* - B. In total, 25% of the year group achieved all As and A*s.  This is a fantastic achievement for the students, particularly considering the new, more challenging, A-level specifications.

Howell’s is a Drapers’ School, one of 21 schools and colleges supported by The Drapers’ Company, one of the 12 Livery Companies of the City of London, thanks to Tudor merchant Thomas Howell, who died in 1537 and left his fortune in the trust of the Drapers’ Company. A number of students who show exceptional promise are awarded the Drapers’ Scholarship each year in recognition of academic achievement and potential.

This year’s Drapers’ Scholars— Olivia, Hanya, Claudia, Rachel, Dagmawi —have out-performed all expectations and achieved A*s in every subject, including full marks in several subjects.

Of the five Drapers’ Scholars, four will take up places at Oxford and Cambridge universities, reading Medicine, Natural Sciences and PPE.  The other, a talented artist, will follow a different route, going to study on an Art Foundation course.

Principal, Sally Davis, said: "I could not be more proud of this year's results. During their two years in the Co-Ed College these students have risen to the challenges presented to them and impressed everyone at Howell’s with their determination and dedication. I look forward to Prizegiving, when we will be able to congratulate them with their families before they embark upon their exciting new journeys.”
