On the evening of Friday 19th November, the red carpet was rolled out for the fourth and final Champions’ Dinner in aid of the Martha Bursary Award. It was a particularly special evening as we were joined by lots of Martha’s friends who are now in Year 13. Following a drinks reception in the Great Hall, guests made their way to the Sports Hall where they were treated to a delicious three course supper provided by our wonderful catering team. During dinner we heard from Sally Davis, Martha’s parents Bec and Paul, and Chrissie Davis talked about some of the recipients of the Martha Bursary Award. Between courses everyone watched a series of films made by Dan Ralph and Lewys Rees which saw Martha’s friends and teachers share their memories of Martha.
We were extremely privileged that this year’s guest speaker was automotive journalist, racing driver and television presenter, Chris Harris, who was in conversation with his old school friend and Howell’s parent James Trafford. They were hugely entertaining and had the audience laughing all the way home. Thank you to everyone who supported this hugely important evening which raised over £6800 in memory of Martha. A special thank you to Rachel Eling for organising the evening, Mr and Mrs Turner, who provided the beautiful flowers, Eversheds Sutherland, who sponsored the drinks reception and to all the individuals and businesses who donated prizes for the tombola.
