Hywelian Advent Service

Tuesday 29th November was a bright and crisp day, and the Bridgend Branch of the Hywelian Guild held their traditional Advent service in Holy Cross Parish Church in Cowbridge with the winter sun filtering through the stained glass windows. A group of girls from Year 7 joined the Hywelians at the service, and they loved seeing the numerous Christmas trees that fill the church with lights and sparkle. The trees were all decorated by schools, local organisations and businesses for the Christmas Tree Festival, which the church holds every year. Following the service, more than 30 Hywelians, along with Mrs Davis, Mrs Yilmaz and several members of staff who are proud to be Hywelians themselves, walked over to the Bear Hotel for a delicious Christmas lunch. Thank you to Liz Fryer and Pat Parry for all they did to make it such a special occasion.
