Birmingham Schools' Debating Competition

Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Birmingham Schools' Debating Competition on Sunday 15th November. The competition took place online, and over the course of the day the teams each competed in several rounds. This was the first time that Amy, Connie and Nayana, all Year 10, had debated in an external competition, and Amy D unexpectedly had to take on both roles in her team as her partner had WIFI problems. Amy had an impressive score of two second places, and Connie and Nayana won their final round.

Frances and Ayesha, Year 13, won their rounds and went into the Gold final in 3rd position out of 48 teams. They were both placed in top 10 speakers (out of 96 in all) Frances was 5th and Ayesha 7th.

All of the students improved a huge amount throughout the day, and greatly increased their confidence. It was thought provoking and a great experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
