On Thursday 28th November, as part of a national competition offered by Apple, 10 of our keen Year 7 coding students volunteered to take part in a 2 hour event where they learnt how to code spells on the iPad which they implemented with a Bluetooth wand. Our trainer, Oscar, introduced the group to creating a spell and how the wand could be used to make the magic happen. Various challenges were completed by the students before they began the task of writing their own code and cast their own spell. Creativity, logic and enthusiasm were in abundance as the students designed spells to make an owl change colour, an ogre to grow and shrink and for the flying car to battle with spiders. A demonstration of all spells was given confidently by the students and we all enjoyed the diverse and imaginative coding used. Who knew that a wand and an iPad could be so powerful?
