Economics Lecture by Professor Patrick Minford CBE

We were very honoured and privileged to be able to welcome Professor Patrick Minford CBE to Howell's on September 30th to deliver our first Economics lecture. Professor Minford spoke for the best part of an hour and discussed the role that monetary policy and the banking system had to play in the recent financial crisis. We were provided with a number of different theories about why the crisis occurred and were left pondering whether or not the regulation of the banking system post-crash has made the problem worse, rather than allowing the economy to recover fully. It was a truly fascinating and unforgettable experience! Our thanks go to Mr Christopher Fildes, former Governor and Draper, for introducing Professor Minford to the school.
