Entrance Examinations

Everyone wishing to enter the school is required to undertake some form of assessment.

An assessment with play activities is used to determine whether your child is ready to benefit from the learning programme offered.

Prep School

In Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 assessment is through play, informal activities and unstructured tasks. For entry to Year 3-6, candidates sit entrance papers in Mathematics, English and non-verbal reasoning.

Year 7

External candidates take entrance papers in Mathematics and English. All candidates being considered for a place are then interviewed. Girls in Howell's Prep School sit the examination so that they can be considered for a scholarship.

Year 8-11

Candidates take entrance examinations in Mathematics and English. On successful completion of the written papers, interviews are held with a member of the leadership team to assess communication skills and the ability to take advantage of all the school offers.
