Scholarships & Bursaries

The GDST Bursary Fund provides financial assistance to enable suitably qualified students, whose parents could not otherwise afford the fees, to enter the Senior School and College.

We are pleased to announce that, since 2011, means-tested full bursaries covering 100% of the school fees have been available for students entering the school in Year 7 and Year 12.

For further information please contact Chrissie Hall-Davis, who will explain the next steps of this process.

Other Trusts are also available to assist with fees in certain circumstances; please contact the school for further details.

HSBC Scholarships

We would like to thank HSBC for their continued support in providing funding for very bright and able students who wouldn't otherwise benefit from a Howell's education. For more information on the HSBC funding please contact

Howell's School, Llandaff awards a range of scholarships, which may include Academic, English, Mathematics and Music for pupils joining Year 7. A scholarship is an award for excellence, which serves primarily as an acknowledgement of the scholar’s achievements; they have a modest financial award, usually to a value of 5% of the school fees.

Honorary Scholarships

Scholarship applicants who are narrowly unsuccessful in obtaining a scholarship will be considered for the status of Honorary Scholar.

Honorary Scholarships give no financial benefit but recognise a girl's potential and commitment to a subject area.

Please contact Admissions Officer Mrs Hall-Davis for further information Tel: 02920 561832

Howell's School provides tremendous "value-added" in terms of public examination results, which are consistently higher than predicted in independent assessments.
