After 18 months of uncertainty, with periods of quarantine, national lockdowns and the cancellation of their exams, this morning our Year 13 students received their A-level results.
This year the students achieved:
A* 47% A*- A 78% A*- B 93%
Over 90% of students have a confirmed place at their first choice of university—66% of these are Russell Group institutions—and are looking forward to taking up places at leading universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, York, UCL, Edinburgh and the Sapienza University of Rome.
In congratulating the students, we echo the words of the Welsh Minister for Education, Jeremy Miles, who said this morning:
“While your experiences and the way in which you have been assessed have been different, the value of these qualifications is not. You can be sure that your grades reflect your hard work throughout this year, and you fully deserve the qualifications you receive.”
Along with an excellent set of A-level results, Year 13 leave us with a maturity and resilience that will stand them in such good stead, wherever their adult lives take them. I cannot wait to see what that will be for each and every one of them. Good luck to the Class of 2021; everyone at Howell’s wishes them every success and happiness in the future.
