European Youth Parliament Summer Session

Year 12 students Restam E-A, Hanya E, Ellie K, Caitlin M-C, Ffion M, Anoushka N, Rachel S and Natasha S travelled to Liverpool Hope University to take part in the European Youth Parliament Summer Session from Thursday 28th June until Sunday 1st July. The event programme was very intensive, from initial team-building to committee work to draw up resolutions and their operative clauses, to nine full debates in the General Assembly. Added to that were workshops, team interviews, and social events such as the Eurovillage food festival (Howell's represented Switzerland with Toblerone being the most popular item on our table), a team quiz and a talent show. The students were kept busy from early until late, and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience, staying in the student halls on campus, meeting new people from all over the UK and developing their confidence and skills in debating, along with a strong understanding of current global issues. All the team members participated really well. Congratulations to Caitlin and Ffion who were selected to go forward to an international EYP later this summer. We look forward to hearing about their experiences when we return in September.
