On Tuesday 30th January, Morwenna B (Year 11) and I accompanied by Mr Walters made the lengthy journey to Northampton High School for the GDST Chrystal Prize Public Speaking Competition.
Morwenna, our speaker, engaged the room with her own excellent and evocative speech on 'Whether Magic Still Exists in the present day'. Her speech, which suggested storytelling as a ‘real’ form of magic, was met with a variety of interesting questions from the audience.
The competition was intense, with each speech presenting compelling ideas which questioned aspects of our current world - for example, the need for compassionate leaders.
Congratulations to Ashley from Royal High School Bath for winning the competition with her alternative take on Magic in the world today, and thank you to Northampton High School for hosting a thoroughly interesting competition.
