GDST UNDIVIDED STUDENT COUNCIL CONFERENCE

On Wednesday 28th April, Ella-Rose and India from Year 6 represented the Prep School as our two student reps for diversity.  This was the first conference of its kind in which we all met as a GDST family to discuss and share our future aims and current projects taking place in our individual schools.  Our Chief Executive, Cheryl Giovannoni talked to the girls about our Undivided Charter for Action and what it represents.  We sit at the precipice, and we are together taking a leap because we want a better future for all our girls and for them to be instrumental in helping the world be a better place.  Together as a GDST family we will make a difference with our girls at the forefront being the agents of change.

We talked about our GDST values and how all of us have a responsibility to drive change:

GIRLS FIRST—our girls have the opportunity and confidence to be the change makers of the future.  To use their voice to help design the type of world they want to live in.

FAMILY—we are part of a family of schools and working together makes us more powerful.  By opening the difficult conversations and creating a non-judgmental platform for discussion we can challenge each other to make a difference.

FEARLESS—allowing our girls to develop the courage to speak out and to have the courage to continue to use their voice to inspire others.

FORWARD THINKING—to encourage our girls to be brave, to make the right choices and to think about their individual responsibility in making a difference.

I was immensely proud of Ella-Rose and India and the way in which they presented their section of the conference.  They spoke with clarity, passion and conviction and shared with our family of schools the work we did during Black History Month.  It is a privilege for me as the teacher of your daughters to able to come to work each day and to know that in front of me lies the beating heart of our future world.  They impress me every day and I know for certain that they will all in their own way make our tomorrow brighter for all.
