Head Boy and Head Girl attend the GDST Annual Reception

At 1pm on Wednesday 15th June our newly appointed Head Girl and Head Boy (Rosie T and Rob L), Mrs Sue Rayner (Secretary of the Hywelian Guild) and Miss Roberts set off to London to attend the GDST’s Annual Reception at the Royal College of General Practitioners.  Upon arrival drinks were served in the beautiful atrium during which Rosie and Rob thoroughly enjoyed chatting to their counterparts from other GDST Schools. Guests were then ushered into the lecture theatre and the formalities were opened with an uplifting performance from Blackheath’s Junior Chamber Choir, who won the GDST’s recent Junior Choir of the Year Competition. Then came the results of the greatly anticipated Alumna of the Year, for which our very own Hannah Mills (Olympic gold winning sailor) was nominated. The shortlist consisted of an extraordinary list of women from varying occupations and the deserving winner was Oxford High alumna, Cressida Dick, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in London. Many congratulations to Cressida, Hannah and all the nominees. Following this announcement Sophie Walker, Leader of the Women’s Equality Party, gave the key note speech. The event culminated with drinks and delicious food. It was a very special occasion, and Rosie and Rob were outstanding ambassadors of Howell’s.
