National Poetry Day Celebrations

On Thursday 28th September, we enjoyed celebrating National Poetry Day with a wonderful assembly for Years 8 and 9 led by Maddie B, Morwenna, Alice B and Rachel T.
At lunch time, Poetry Club read from the fabulous range of poems from our  ‘Freedom Bird’ display. We were struck by how intense and varied a couple of lines of poetry could be: Gothic, comic, profound and more!  Some of our favourites were:

‘All night they would explore the woods.
No bridals, no saddles would ever control them.
They couldn’t be captured, they were too wild.’ Lucie 7H

‘The lie of a ‘free country.’ Morwenna 11S

‘Where freedom shivered down my spine.’ Holly P 8P

‘Be you, be free’ by Sophie D 8Q

‘I am the only one of my kind.’ Rysha B 8Q

‘The chains on my cage are so tightly bound
Infinite thoughts, whirling around.’ Grace M 8Q
