Poets in the Pantry

Poetry and chocolate...what could be better? Keen poets from Years 7 to 10, spent a wonderful break time eating chocolate and writing recipe poems about what makes them happy.  Georgina from Year 8 won a ‘Make it Happen’ decoration in a prize draw to remind her to make time for activities that she really enjoys.  The event, as part of HeadsUp@Howell’s, was inspired by Mia H’s homework task, which was to bring in a favourite poem and Mia brought in a poem listing the ingredients for an optimist.  Thank you Mia and everyone who took part.
Preparations are now fully underway for 'National Poetry Day' next Thursday, 28th September.  Our Freedom Birds are beginning to fly in the sky in the library already, and Poetry Club are preparing poems for a special assembly to celebrate too.
