Success at the Oxford Debating Union

Siani K, Izzy T-H, Dani K and Angona S, accompanied by Miss Jenkins and Mrs Davies, went to the Oxford Debating Union on Saturday, February 24th for the regional round of the International Competition for Young Debaters. All the girls debated three motions on the legalisation of drugs, the funding of space exploration and the abolition of university tuition fees. At the break, Dani and Angona narrowly missed out, but Siani and Izzy made it through to the round final to debate the requisitioning of uninhabited houses for the homeless. Both teams did so well that they were selected for Finals Day at the Oxford Union, this time with teams from all over the UK and from abroad, to be held on April 28th. Well done, girls!
