On Friday 10th March, the entire Howell’s community came together to raise funds for the Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal. At lunchtime Senior School students set up stalls in the Sports Hall and sold a variety of goodies and activities, demonstrating tremendous creativity and entrepreneurship. The stalls included tasty Turkish treats, crocheted coasters and bookmarks, sweets and cookies, guess the number of mini eggs, a raffle and much more. The hall was bustling with students and staff, and a terrific £876.53 was raised, very well done to everyone to took part. Many congratulations to Francesca B, Mollie D, Bethan E, Eloise H and Erin M whose stall selling pick ‘n’ mix, drinks and cookies raised the most: a fabulous £143.58
In the Prep School Year 6 students Ece, Ilhan and Katherine organised a fabulous Cool Cup fundraising activity. Students were given cups which they filled to the brim with small toys, stationery and sweets. They then had the chance to spend £1 which gave them the chance to win one of the cups. Many thanks to everyone who took part in this “cool” activity which raised a fabulous £213.
In total, the whole school and college community raised an amazing £1,089.53. We are enormously grateful to all the students, staff and families who have supported this special day and the appeal which will help get life-saving supplies to earthquake survivors in both Turkey and Syria.
