Year One Hit The Shops

On Wednesday 22nd March, we went to Tesco for our ‘Farm to Fork’ trip. First we explored all the fruit and vegetables, hunting for the different colours of the rainbow. We found peppers, lemons, carrots, kale, blueberries, aubergines and lots more. Next we walked to the bakery, it was covered in flour. We talked to baker about how bread is made and he showed us the ingredients. They make over 2000 rolls a day!

After that we went to the cheese counter and found out that cheese comes from the milk of four animals: cows, sheep, goats and buffalos. We were so lucky because we were allowed to taste some cheese. Our favourite was the Dragon Cheddar and our least favourite was the very spicy Mexicana!

Finally we went to the fish counter and the fishmonger showed us lots of different fish and taught us how they are caught. We were very brave and we held a big, slippery mackerel.

Thank you very much to Tesco Extra, Western Avenue and Mr Baldrey, Mrs Rose, Mrs Ambler and Mrs Giles for helping us on our trip.
